An intro to me

Updated: May 19, 2024

Hello and welcome to my blog! I actually don’t really know how to start this, this is my first ever blog post so we’re just ganna go with it!

My names Ayesha and I’m an artist! To be honest I always question whether I can call myself an artist or not, sometimes I feel like I’m not allowed to use that title as it’s not like other professions where somebody gives you that title, when you’re an artist you usually claim the title yourself! I guess sometimes I feel like I’m not an artist because I have no formal training, only through school and sixth form. Other than that I’m completely self taught! But then I realise to be an artist you don’t need education or training; art is an inner experience and a skill which can be developed from oneself. And you don’t have to be have an official degree, or even produce constant high level artworks to be an artist. If you express yourself through some creative form, then you are an artist. Honestly I feel like we’re all artists in some way, maybe I’ll explore my thoughts on that in another blog. This is meant to be an introduction but I’m just rambling!

I want this blog to follow my creative journey and to follow me as I grow confidence in my art as honestly i’m not that confident in it. Despite all the lovely feedback and high praise my work gets from others, sometimes I struggle to believe it myself. But hopefully that’s something that’ll change! I also want this blog to follow me as I start to try and explore different styles and such. My main medium is pencil and my focus is on portraits – people and animals (but mainly people). I focus on realism drawing, but sometimes that gets very restricting and often I feel like I’m not allowed to try other styles. Which is so stupid because there are no rules with art! That’s something I need to realise more often.

I am a commission artist, I draw portraits for people and I love it! (So if you’re reading this and you think you might be interested in commissioning a portrait, feel free to check out my gallery and send me a message!)

But I also want to experiment and try different things. So, that’s what this blog is about; a sort of diary to my creative journey. I hope doing this will also help to inspire others! I’ll also make posts where I write about things that I think could help other people; perhaps tips and advice, evaluations of certain art products, things I’ve learnt etc. I’m not 100% sure yet but I’ll keep it interesting

Thanks for reading! I’ll end this post here. Hopefully with time I’ll get better at writing these, but for now I’ll keep it short and sweet 🙂

To my fellow artists or inspiring artists out there, stay creative! 🙂
